New Music: Demi Louise – ‘Ruins’

demi louise ruins

With upcoming shows at Liverpool Sound City and City Sound Project this May, Australian singer/songwriter Demi Louise looks set to make her mark in the UK music scene having moved from her native homeland.

Last week saw the release of her debut single Ruins and indeed a stunning representation of pure acoustics, soulful vocals and honest lyrics. Although words express of a broken relationship,  the delicate guitar strings graciously accompanying’s Demi’s soul-swaying vocals certainly make it a heart-warming listen.

Her bubbly personality alongside her confidence and maturity as a musician is second to none and so we highly recommend you to catch Demi Louise live at Liverpool Sound City Festival.

Ruins is available to buy now on iTunes.

George Ezra

Only 19 years of age with vocals and wisdom beyond his years, Bristol’s George Ezra looks set to redefine the traditional British Folk genre in 2014. Critically acclaimed debut EP Did You Hear The Rain struck the hearts of many and to add on he will be kicking of his first headline European tour in February .  So prepare yourselves for what’s going to be an epic year for the singer/songwriter.

Another Bristol one and a hip hop artist tipped for big things. Although we have to wait just a little longer for the debut Super Arkane, we know for certain that when it drops its going to be huge. The young rapper continues to have his music and videos played across the globe and with his latest projects with Roundhouse coming to life and being compared to the likes of Mac Miller and Joey Bada$$, it is only matter of time before we truly witness a hip hop great.

Sam Smith

We’ve been hooked ever since his feature on Disclosure’s hit Latch last year, the British singer/songwriter is tipped to be one of the big ones of 2014 and rightly so with his sensational vocals and soulful vibes, from the beautiful Nirvana to the slick Money On My Mind. Sam’s vocals can grace on any beat and if you get the chance to see him live this year, you won’t be disappointed!

Nasty Little Lonely

Bristol based rock band Nasty Little Lonely have been hitting the gig circuit throughout 2013 and getting much praise on various online blogs and magazines, 2014 looks very promising for the band with their new EP Son of The Flies all set for release next month (17th Feb) and the unveiling of their new music video just released. Dark, sinister, dirty, and infectious, its rock like you’ve never listened to before and one that’ll certainly catch your ears!

Shout outs to Beth Martinez (Danger Village) for introducing us to  last year and we sure tip big things for her in 2014. Her debut EP Bikini Daze received a lot of praise across the scene with its mix of explosive and punchy ballads whilst remaining unique and aggressive all at the same time. The Danish singer has also had her music feature on Radio 1 as well as successful tour dates across the UK – her debut album No Mythologies To Follow is out on 24th Feb and one that is sure to kick start a great year ahead!

Puppet Rebellion

Greater Manchester is definitely brewing up some great artists, Bipolar Sunshine, Mutineers to name a few but Puppet Rebellion are the ones to watch for in 2014. After their critically acclaimed debut EP Chemical Friends the band have gone strength to strength, smashing live shows one after the next, growing their loyal fan base and mad love across the blogsphere , the band have also had their music featured on both sides of Manchester footy stadiums. 2014 looks set to be a big one with the launch of their second EP No Means Yes next month with the launch party taking place on 22nd February at the Gullivers.

Had the pleasure of meeting Londoner Lucy Taylor (PAWWS) when she performed at Bristol’s Birdcage last fall, her catchy synth pop and soulful electro certainly brings change to the modern dance world and will surely get you moving in 2014. With hit singles Slow Love and Time To Say Goodbye under her belt and more new music and tour dates under way, there’s no doubt you’ll be listen to PAWWS over the coming months.

Brother & Bones

How about rounding off 2013 with their biggest tour schedule to date? 34 shows in 50 days across the UK and arguably one of the best live bands we’ve ever seen! We’re certainly excited for this band and 2014 looks even better with the successful of their latest EP To Be Alive and their upcoming  European tour with shows in Paris, Munich and Berlin. Will 2014 mark the release of their debut full length album? Who knows but until then, keep on rocking guys!

Demi Louise

The 20 year old singer/songwriter from Australia certainly caught our attention last year; pure acoustics, soulful vocals and honest lyrics but not only that her confidence and maturity as a musician is second to none. Demi’s fan base continues to grow worldwide with her growing subscribers on YouTube as well as having completed her degree, released her EP, travelled around the world, passing the X factor auditions and supporting Gabrielle Alpin at her sold out show in Nottingham. keep you eyes peeled as 2014 looks set to be a great artist in the making.

The NYC duo of Lonnie Angle and Thomas Button kept us buzzing with their electro pop over the months. From the grit and darkness of their debut single Hold Me Down, the vibrant and energetic Technicolor Dreaming to the funky remix of Jhameel’s hit Feisty. Add that to loads of blog/media love, numerous shows and a successful campaign at last year’s CMJ Music festival. We’re excited to see what’s install for Cardiknox this year!
